No Vaccine Shortage, 43 Million Doses Stocked: Health Min Harsh Vardhan
Discarding the claims of COVID-19 vaccine shortage, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan on April 8 clarified that India has 43 million vaccine doses, either stocked or in supply pipeline. COVID Vaccination Drive For People Above 50 To Begin From March
The Centre has announced to expand the COVID-19 vaccination drive by initiating inoculation of the third priority group, comprising people aged 50 and above, from March. Speaking in the Lok Sabha, Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan said over 27 crore people will be vaccinated in the third priority group. He also stated that under the vaccination drive which started on January 16, around 5 million people have already been inoculated.

Ladakh: First Meteorological Centre To Be Inaugurated On December 29
A Meteorological Centre will be opened in the Union Territory of Ladakh on December 29. The establishment in Leh would be virtually inaugurated by Union Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan, with Ladakh Lieutenant Governor RK Mathur. At an altitude of 3,000 metres, the centre will study climate and weather. Besides, it will also harness solar energy. Moreover, it aims to guide tourists with weather updates.

5 Medical Seats Reserved For Wards Of COVID Frontline Workers Who Died On Duty
Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan has announced a reservation of five medical seats for the wards of the COVID frontline workers who died during the pandemic. Rajya Sabha Passes Bill to Punish Those Who Abuse Medical Professionals
In order to safeguard the medical workers, Rajya Sabha on September 19 passed a bill that aims to punish those who abuse doctors and healthcare professionals. Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan introduced this bill in Rajya Sabha as Epidemic Diseases (Amendment) Bill, 2020. Reportedly, the culprits will be booked under nonbailable charges, and may get sentenced a jail term of three months to five years.
