In Uttarakhand's Kashipur, a man was arrested after allegedly brandishing a knife on stage during a programme of Congress party. The programme was attended by former state CM Harish Rawat. However, no untoward incident happened as the accused was nabbed by the Youth Congress members. "A case has been registered and the person has been arrested for brandishing a knife on a stage," said Dilip Kumar Kunwar, SSP.
In the latest development, former Punjab CM Amarinder Singh on November 2 announced on Twitter that he'll launch his party by the name of ''Punjab Lok Congress''. However, the registration is yet not done and the party symbol will be decided by Election Commission later. Besides, Singh also officially sent his resignation letter to Congress, accusing Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi of supporting Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu.
In the biggest development of Punjab politics, former CM Amarinder Singh, who recently left the Congress on October 19, announced to launch his own party before the 2022 assembly election. Amarinder further said that he's ready to ally with like-minded parties. However, him joining BJP is unlikely, owing to the farmers' issue. ''The Battle for Punjab is on. The 89-year-old UP's former CM Kalyan Singh passed away due to sepsis and multiorgan failure on August 21 at a hospital in Lucknow. The UP CM said, his last rite will be performed on August 23 and declared it as a public holiday. Condoling his death, PM Narendra Modi tweeted, ''I am saddened beyond words. Former Gujarat CM and veteran BJP leader Keshubhai Patel passed away of cardiac arrest at 92 on October 29. Reportedly, he had complained of difficulty in breathing, following which he was admitted to a hospital in Ahmedabad. He served Gujarat as a CM in 1995 and 1998-2001. Elected as a member of legislative assembly for six times, Patel had also created his own party, 'Gujarat Parivartan Party', in 2012.
