Gold Sold In Discounts Following Price Hike In India

Following a surge in the gold prices, it has been put on discount throughout the week for the first time in a month. On July 16, gold was trading at Rs 48,300 per 10 grams. The discount for this week was up to $5 for an ounce over domestic prices, including 10.75% on imports and 3% on sales levies. Besides, India marks as the second biggest bullion consumer after China.

The French fries is priced at $200 and have been innovatively prepared by Joe Calderone, creative chef, and Fredrick Schoen-Kiewert, Corporate Executive Chef. Besides, it is served on a Baccarat crystal Arabesque Plate with Mornay Sauce.

Salt Bae To Open New Eatery In London Offering Golden Steak In Menu

Internet sensation and chef Nusret Gokce, fondly known as 'Salt Bae' is all set to launch his new restaurant, the Nusr-Et, in London with 24-carat gold tomahawk steak on the menu. Reportedly, the food item’s cost is fixed at £700 and would be one of the star attractions of the restaurant. The eatery will be open to the public from May 17 after several delays due to the pandemic.

World's Largest Jewellery-Maker 'Pandora' Switches To Lab-Made Diamonds

Jewellery maker Pandora has taken a sustainable approach by switching from mined diamonds to lab-made diamonds, the company announced on May 3. The synthetic diamonds would be used in all future designs, and Pandora would release a line of rings, bangles, and earrings. Initial release of the products would be in Britain, followed by other markets. The company would also be using recycled gold and silver from 2025.

India's Gold Import Clocks At $34.6 Billion; Increases By 22.58%

According to Commerce Ministry data, gold imports during 2020-21 increased by 22.58% to $34.6 billion (around Rs 2.54 lakh crore) in India. While the surge was attributed to the increased domestic demand, silver imports decreased by 71%. Moreover, the trade deficit decreased by $98.56 billion and gems and jewellery exports decreased by 27.5%. Centre Plans To Mandate BIS Mark On Gold Jewellery From June 1

To ensure purity standards, the Centre is eyeing to implement mandatory hallmarking of gold jewellery from June 1. After implementation, jewellers will be required to register themselves with the Bureau of Indian Standards. Earlier, in November 2019, the government had announced to mandate BIS mark from January 15, 2021 which was deferred citing the pandemic. Now jewellers will be allowed to sell only 14, 18 and 22 carats of gold.

Mangaluru Customs Confiscates Gold Worth Rs1.3 Crore; Hidden Under Body

The Customs Department at Mangaluru International Airport have arrested three people and confiscated 2.8 Kg of gold worth Rs 1.3 crore, on April 7. Accused Muhamad Ashraf had hidden gold under his feet, while Rajeesh had concealed gold under his large intestine, as four capsules in compound form. Reportedly, Muhamad Kalanad an another smuggler who was arrested by the security officials through the intelligence agency inputs.

TN Villagers Find Gold In Temple Restoration; Police Seizes By Force

The villagers of Uthiramerur in Tamil Nadu have found 565 grams of ancient gold during the restoration of an ancient Shiva Temple. The gold has been spotted by them beneath the steps leading to sanctum sanctorum of the temple. However, the police have seized the gold despite being strong opposition from the villagers. Located about 40 km from Kancheepuram, the villagers believe the temple rules back to Chola Period.
