Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Union Telecom Minister, on December 13 said they are making efforts to reduce the supply chain cost of mobile phones. India's design capabilities are being enhanced to provide affordable smartphones in every region of India. "India is globally second largest manufacturers of mobile phones. More initiatives coming on that," said Vaishnaw during an industry event organised by the CII. 

The Central Government on November 13, released Rs 8,453.92 crores to 19 states as a grant to strengthen their health systems. The grant was released by the department of expenditure as per the recommendations of the Fifteenth Finance Commission, said the finance ministry. Moreover, grants for the remaining nine states will also be released once the union ministry receives their proposal, according to sources.  

In order to preserve and promote the tribal community of India, the government has set up seven 'Zonal Cultural Centrestos'. Mumbai-based pharmaceutical company Wockhardt has approached the Centre for an opportunity to produce two billion doses of COVID-19 vaccine a year starting February 2022. Reportedly, the company is looking for partnership for vaccine production, and aims to produce 500 million doses in its first go. Besides, the planned two-billion doses will include different types of vaccines for "a more sustainable activity", as per the company's plan.
