Govt Releases Suicide Data Of Minors In India: Lok Sabha

In India, an average of 31 minors committed suicide every day. On December 14, the Central Government released data saying at least 11,396 minors died by suicide in 2020. "As per available information by (the National Crime Records Bureau), the total number of suicide committed during the last three years were 9,431 in 2018, 9,631 in 2019 and 11,396 in 2020," said Union Minister Ajay Kumar Mishra.

India Making Efforts To Reduce Smartphones Price: Ashwini Vaishnaw

Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Union Telecom Minister, on December 13 said they are making efforts to reduce the supply chain cost of mobile phones. India's design capabilities are being enhanced to provide affordable smartphones in every region of India. "India is globally second largest manufacturers of mobile phones. More initiatives coming on that," said Vaishnaw during an industry event organised by the CII.

CBDT Issues Income Tax Refund To 1.19 Crore Tax Payers In 2021

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) issued refund of Rs 1,32,381 crores to more than 1.19 crore payers. The refund amount is divided into Rs 44,207 crore issued in 1,17,32,079 cases and corporate tax refund of Rs 88,174 crore in 1,99,481 cases. The total amount also include 83.88 lakh return of Annual Year (AY) 2021-2022 amounting to Rs 17.266.48 crore. The return was confirmed by IT Department through Twitter.

Centre Releases Rs 8,453.92 Crore For States To 'Strengthen' Health System

The Central Government on November 13, released Rs 8,453.92 crores to 19 states as a grant to strengthen their health systems. The grant was released by the department of expenditure as per the recommendations of the Fifteenth Finance Commission, said the finance ministry. Moreover, grants for the remaining nine states will also be released once the union ministry receives their proposal, according to sources.

Govt. Wants VIL To Compete In Indian Telecom Market: Vodafone CEO

Vodafone Idea Ltd (VIL) Managing Director and CEO Ravinder Takkar told PTI that the government has presented an alternative to paying back dues via equity shares. He also said it would not want to acquire the firm, considering it wants VIL to be one among three private players to compete in the Indian telecom market. VIL has total gross debt of Rs. 1.91 lakh crore.

Government Procures Covishield For Rs 215; Covaxin At Rs 225

In wake of the COVID-19 crisis, the Centre has ordered 66 crores doses of newly manufactured vaccines. The vaccines will be available at a revised price of Rs 215 & Rs 225 for Covishield and Covaxin respectively. However, a senior official said, “We are on the path to achieving the target of 50 crore doses by July 31, this is crucial towards meeting our target coverage by 2021.”

Wockhardt Seeks Deal With Govt To Produce 2 Billion Vaccine Doses

Mumbai-based pharmaceutical company Wockhardt has approached the Centre for an opportunity to produce two billion doses of COVID-19 vaccine a year starting February 2022. Reportedly, the company is looking for partnership for vaccine production, and aims to produce 500 million doses in its first go. Besides, the planned two-billion doses will include different types of vaccines for "a more sustainable activity", as per the company's plan.
