GoI Appoints Senior Most SC Justice UU Lalit As Next CJI
The Government of India announced the appointment of Justice Uday Umesh Lalit as the next Chief Justice of India and issued a notification, on August 10. Recommended by the outgoing CJI NV Ramana, UU Lalit is the senior-most judge of the Supreme Court. Furthermore, the notification of GoI read, "Justice Uday Umesh Lalit, Judge of the Supreme Court as the Chief Justice of India with effect from 27th August, 2022".

SC Orders Govt To Provide Information On State's Anti-Hate Speech Laws
Supreme Court directed the Centre on July 21 to provide it with information on the preventative, corrective, and remedial actions taken by state governments thus far in accordance with its previous hate speech judgments within six weeks.
