Heroin

In Mizoram's Champhai district, the Serchhip Battalion of Assam Rifles on February 9, has seized 751.2 grams of heroin. According to an official statement by Assam Rifles, the heroin was recovered from Venglai village in Champhai district, the recovered heroin is worth Rs 3 crore. During the search operation done by Assam Rifles, the drugs were recovered by the battalion. Moreover, further details are awaited. 

The Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) on November 15, seized 120 kg Heroin, worth Rs 600 Crores, delivered from Pakistan. Reportedly, the delivery was done through a Pakistani boat via sea route, and three persons got apprehended, said Director General of Police, Ashish Bhatia. In an attempt to smuggle heroin worth Rs 53 crore into India, two Afghan nationals have been arrested by the customs authorities at the Delhi International Airport. The accused were flying Tehran via Dubai. The drugs were concealed in the “black color liquid in shampoo/hair coloring bottles.” The drugs weighed 7.62 kg in total. "During the interrogation, the passengers accepted their guilt," a statement notified.

Heroin weighing 18 kgs worth Rs 7.5  crores have been seized by the Customs officials at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport on July 1. The shipment was hidden in a parcel containing bangles and was being smuggled from Africa to an address in Delhi. Besides, last week, officials at Delhi airport had arrested two South Africans smuggling Rs 126 crores of heroin to Delhi, who were part of a syndicate.

The custom officials at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International airport on April 14 busted two Zambian people including a woman and recovered14kg heroin. Reportedly, the drugs worth Rs 98 crore were being couriered to someone in Delhi. Terming the confiscation has “one of the biggest drug hauls at Delhi airport, the IGI custom officials said “Role of a bigger syndicate behind the attempted smuggling cannot be ruled out.”
