India To Take Part in Multi-Nation Air Combat In Persian Gulf

In a first, the Indian Air Force (IAF) is eyeing to participate in a multilateral exercise that is slated to take place in the strategic Persian Gulf Region. With 6.5% of women participation, Indian Navy has recorded highest participation of women among all three services. Deal Sealed: Govt To Procure 83 Tejas From HAL At Rs 48,000 Cr

Indian Government will procure 83 indigenous combat fighter jet - Tejas - at Rs 48,000 crore from the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. Sealing the deal on February 3, the contract was given to HAL Chief and CEO R Madhavan during the inauguration ceremony of Aero India 2021. Reportedly, the government aims to strengthen the IAF combat after its approval by the PM Narendra Modi led Cabinet Committee on Security.

US Govt Nods For Boeing's New F-15EX Fighter Jet Supply To India

American aircraft maker Boeing is free to supply its F-15EX fighter jets to the Indian air force as the former has been licensed by the US government. The company is officially in the race with Sweden's Gripen and France's Rafale to fulfil India's forage of 114 multi-role aircraft. An official from Boeing said, "the marketing licence it allows us to talk to the Indian Air Force directly about the capability of the fighter."

Late IAF Pilot's Wife Joins Air Force As Flying Officer

Garima Abrol, wife of late Squadron leader Samir Abrol, is all set to join the Indian Air Force as a flying officer. Garima passed out from the Air Force Academy on December 19. Samir, who was a squadron leader in the IAF, lost his life on February 1, 2019, when his Mirage 2000 trainer fighter aircraft crashed in Yamalur, Bengaluru. His co-test pilot, Squadron leader Siddhartha Negi, had also died in the accident.

Only Officer To Serve Air Force, Army And Navy Prithipal Singh Turns 100

Retired Colonel Prithipal Singh Gill - the only officer to have served India's all three Defence Forces - has turned 100 on December 11. Starting as Pilot with the Royal Indian Air Force during World War II, he has even served during the 1965 Indo-Pak War. He had last served as a Sector Commander in Manipur. Punjab CM Amarinder Singh said, “May you continue to always inspire all of us.”

Defence Ministry Likely To Purchase French Mid-air Refuellers

Indian government is considering to purchase six Airbus 330 multi-role aircrafts and air refuellers from France to improve striking capabilities of Indian Air Force. The aircrafts can function as transporters, tankers and air ambulances all at once. The proposal specifies the sale of older aircrafts to IAF at lower prices with a 30-year-long platform life certification. Currently, India uses Russian IL-76 M refueller.
