Patwari Suspended After Farmer Commits Suicide Due To Clerical Error

After a 45-year-old farmer Dhaniram Markham committed suicide due to a clerical error in paddy procurement, the patwari of Chattisgarh's Bastar division has been suspended. Due to the error, the procurement limit of Dhaniram was shown as 11 quintals, instead of 100 quintals. Reportedly, Dhaniram had committed suicide since he could not afford to pay his previous loans with the profit from selling 11 quintals of paddy.

Punjab Man Dies On His Way To 'Delhi Chalo' Protests After Car Catches Fire

During the Delhi Chalo protests, an elderly man has died on his way to join the protestors, after his car caught fire. The 65-year-old Janak Raj, after a mechanical issue in one of the farmers' tractors, parked his car beside an highway and slept inside it. Suddenly, the car had started burning and efforts to put-off the fire went in vain. Reportedly, police has suspected a short circuit in the car.

Delhi Government To Launch Anti-Pollution Drive to Counter Stubble Burning

Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai has announced that a mega anti-pollution campaign will be launched from October 5 to deal with stubble burning. He added that the Union government as well as adjoining states have been requested to use the chemical developed by the Indian Agricultural Research Institute.
