Punjab: Forces Doused Fire In School Premises Averting Major Mishap

In Punjab's Pathankot region, a massive fire incident was averted after police took action immediately. In the early hours the fire broke out near the Indian Heritage School premises, but a major mishap was averted after the fire extinguishers doused the fire. "Fast moving forest fire around school premises doused with strenous effort, saving precious lives & valuable property," said PRO Defence Jammu.

6 Members Of Family Found Dead At Residence In Jammu’s Sidhra

In Jammu’s Sidhra area, six members of a family were found dead at their home on August 17. The bodies were shifted to a government medical college and hospital. A probe is underway, and the details related to the death are yet to be ascertained. Earlier on August 17, a Kashmiri pandit was shot dead, following which, security personnel were deployed in the area.

Unidentified Flying Object Spotted By BSF At International Border: Jammu

BSF officials spotted an Unidentified Flying Object in the Kanacahk sector at Jammu's international border and fired at it, on August 1. According to the BSF officials, the object had blinking lights, and tried to cross the International Border (IB) at around 9:31 pm. Following the incident, the area is on high alert, and a search has been initiated. There have been various instances of drone spotted in the IB.

Tunnel Found In Jammu's Samba Area, Security Tightened

A small opening, suspected to be a tunnel, has been found near Jammu's Samba area, on May 5. Reportedly, a probe into the tunnel will be carried out by BSF shortly. After two JeM terrorists were killed in an encounter, it was established that they had infiltrated from somewhere in Sopowal area of Samba. After which, the BSF launched a massive anti-tunnelling operation in the area.

Mother Of 3 Jumps To Death In Jammu's Gujjar Nagar

Saira Bano (30), jumped from a bridge over Tawi river in Jammu's Gujjar Nagar, and killed herself, on May 2. Reportedly, the mother of three children hit the hard surface on the ground, and lost her life. Following the incident, locals rushed her to a government medical college hospital, were she was declared brought dead. In a similar fashion, a 43-year-old man killed himself near Vikram Chowk on May 1.

Police Constable Shoots Himself Dead In Jammu's Arnia Police Station

Pankaj Kumar (33), a police constable in Jammu's Bishnah, allegedly shot himself inside the station. The incident occurred at the Arnia police station, in the outskirts of Jammu, on May 1. The body has reportedly been sent for post-mortem to a government medical College and hospital. The motive behind his suicide is unknown as of now. Further information on the matter is awaited.

IED Identified Along Highway In Jammu; Bomb Squad Defuses It

In Jammu's Sidhra area, an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) which was planted along the highway, was identified and defused, on April 28. After identifying the object on the road, the area was cordoned off, and bomb squad destroyed the IED through controlled mechanism. Notably, the IED has been recovered days after two Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists from Pakistan were killed by security forces.

Suspected Blast Reported In Jammu Village Ahead Of PM Modi's Visit

Ahead of PM Modi's Jammu visit, a suspected blast was reported in the Lalian village of Bishnah area, on April 24. According to police, the suspected blast was reported by villagers in an open agricultural land in Lalian village. The matter is currently being investigated, and security checks have been initiated at the venue in Palli village, where PM Modi is scheduled to address the Panchayats across the country.

Republic Day: High Alert Sounded By BSF On Jammu Border

A high alert has been sounded by Border Security Force in Jammu to foil any possible incident, ahead of Republic Day. In a statement on January 24, BSF said that in view of present scenario and inputs on Republic Day, security has been on high alert on border. The statement reads, "monitoring of suspicious activities is being carried, while joint patrolling is being conducted to avert any possible attempt".
