Karnataka CM Announces To Re-open Schools Upto 10th Class
Schools and colleges (classed till 10) are likely to resume classes from February 14. Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai, reviewed a meeting and announced to reopen schools for classes upto 10. He instructed DCs, SPs and school administration to take necessary steps and ensure to conduct peace committee meeting. Amid the ongoing Hijab row, the Karnataka Government announced holidays till the February 16.

Govt PU College Allows Students In Hijab With Conditions: Karnataka Hijab Row
Karnataka Hijab row matter at PU College in Udupi, intensified. Notably, after the protests, the PU authority allowed students in Hijab, but asked them to sit in a seperate classroom. Despite the attempts of making students understand the recently issued government order, which restrict wearing anything but school uniform, the students insisted on wearing hijab. The matter is pending with the Karnataka HC.

Karnataka Govt Announces Seed Funding Upto Rs 50 Lakh For Startups
Karnataka Government announced seed funding upto Rs 50 lakh for startups on January 16. Dr CN Ashwatha Narayan, the State Education Minister said, "The seed funding will be facilitated to additional 75 startups, to achieve the tally to 200 startups in the year". Addressing the National Startup Day, Narayan said, in 2021, Karnataka attracted Rs 1.60 lakh crore investment in 2021, 50% of India's entire investment from foreign companies.

CM Bommai-led Karnataka Cabinet Approves 'Anti-Conversion Bill'
Karnataka Cabinet approved the 'Anti-Conversion Bill', on December 20. CM Basavaraj Bommai-led BJP government approved the bill, prohibiting conversion of religion (love jihad) by force. Karnataka Govt To Establish Genome Sequencing Labs: CM Basavaraj Bommai
Amid the increasing cases of Covid-19's new variant Omicron, the Karnataka Govt has decided to establish a genome sequencing test lab. Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai, on December 7 said, "arrangements would be made to get test reports quickly." The State CM asked the Health Director Of Karnataka to supervise and ensure the arrangements be done soon. Notably, Karnataka is the first Indian state to report two confirmed Omicron cases.

Karnataka Govt Issues New COVID Guidelines For Travellers From Maharashtra
Karnataka government on November 8 issued new guidelines for short-time travellers coming from Maharashtra amid the rising daily Covid-19 cases in the neighbouring states. As per the guidelines, travelllers should be free from cough and cold, throat pain, fever, difficulty in breathing, etc. The Government also mandated carrying Covid-19 vaccination certificates and a valid return ticket.
