Ladakh To Get New 'Sindhu Central University' For Rs 760 Crore
The people of the Union Territory of Ladakh will get a new central university, as the Lok Sabha passed the bill on August 7. Meanwhile, Education Miniter Dharmendra Pradhan said, ''We've given Ladakh a Union Territory status and going to set up the "Sindhu Central University" for Rs 760 crore.'' Reportedly, about 2,500 students can get an opportunity to secure their seats to study here.

Ladakh's Entire Population Administered With 1st Covid Vaccine Dose
Ladakh becomes the first Union Territory to vaccinate all of its people of all eligible groups, including the guest population (Nepal citizens, migrant workers, and hotel workers) with the first Covid-19 dose, said Ladakh MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal. A senior district official said that the adequate supply of vaccines supplied by the Center paced up the speed of vaccination despite the difficulties.

UP Right-Wing Leader Files An FIR Against Twitter's Manish Maheshwari
In an FIR filed in Uttar Pradesh, Twitter India Chief Manish Maheshwari has been named against the incorrect display of the Indian Map. Reportedly, the map displayed J&K and Laddak as different countries. However, the incorrect map was removed from its website on June 28, after a complaint filed by the Bajrang Dal leader Praveen Bhati. "It is an act of treason," said Mr. Bhati.

Magnitude Of 4.6 Earthquake Hits Ladakh, No Casualties Reported
An earthquake of magnitude 4.6 has hit near Ladak's Leh in the morning of June 28. According to India's National Center for Seismology, the epicenter of the earthquake was 86 km east-northeast of Leh at a depth of 18 km from the surface. The tremor was felt at around 6 am, however, no casualties reported so far.

China Says Gen Rawat's Border Status Quo Changing Allegation Untrue
Chinese military on April 29 described Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat's assertion of China trying to change the status quo in eastern Ladakh as "completely inconsistent with the facts". The statement came days after General Rawat said that India is firm in preventing a change of status quo on borders. He said that India will not succumb to pressure with the technological advantages of China trying to irk India.
