K S Sethumadhavan Known For Malayalam Films Dies In Chennai

K S Sethumadhavan, famous as a filmmaker in the Malayalam language, died at the age of 90 in Chennai, on December 24. He was ailing due to age-related issues for some time, reported PTI. He started his career in the early 1960s and directed over 60 movies. He also worked in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi languages. Born in Kerala's Palakkad, Sethumadhavan is survived by wife Valsala and three children.

Delhi: Govt Hospital Asks Nurses Not To Talk In Malayalam, Faces Ire

A Delhi government hospital has drawn criticism after issuing a circular instructing nurses to not to talk in Malayalam. The Govind Ballabh Pant hospital's circular stated all communication at the workplace should be done in Hindi or English to avoid "serious action". While the hospital authorities cited that maximum people there did not know Malayalam, nurses' union has objected to the inclusion of the language's name in the circular.

Critically acclaimed Malayalam movie 'The Great Indian Kitchen', directed by Jeo Baby, has been selected to be featured at the UK Asian Film Festival 2021. The film revolves around Nimisha and explores her toiling experiences in the kitchen of a large household after being married, and the patriarchal difficulties she faces. The 2021 movie, which also was featured in Shanghai Film Festival, has been acquired by Amazon Prime Video.

Veteran Malayalam Writer 'Sumangala' Passes Away At 87

Leela Nambudiripad, popularly known as ‘Sumangala’ who authored several children's literature in Malayalam, died on April 27 at the age of 87. She was suffering from an age-related illness. Sumangala had written over 50 books in Malayalam and had also translated Sanskrit epics like Valmiki Ramayan and Panchatantra into Malayalam. She had been awarded the Kendra Sahitya Akademi Award and Bal Sahitya Puraskar as well.

Malayalam Movie "Anjaam Pathiraa" to Get a Hindi Remake

The Malayalam crime thriller "Anjaam Pathiraa" directed by Midhun Manuel Thomas will be soon remade in Hindi. The Malayalam movie, released in January 2020, revolved around a serial killer who killed policemen mercilessly. Reliance Entertainment, A P International, and Ashiq Usman Productions have collaborated to give the movie a Bollywood remake . Ashiq Usman said that he was excited about the Hindi remake of the movie.
