17-Year-Old Teen Gang-Raped In Hyderabad's Posh Area, Accused From Influential Background
The Hyderabad police registered a case against five accused, all minors for alleged gang-rape charges. A 17-year-old teen who went to a pub was allegedly attacked by the accused, who took her to a secluded area of Jubilee Hills and raped her in turns Furthermore, the accused are said to be from a politically influential background including the son of an MLA. Details are awaited and an investigation is underway.

Rajasthan Congress MLA Ganesh Ghogra Resigns Prior To The Upcoming Assembly Election
Ganesh Ghogra, the president of the Rajasthan Youth Congress who represents Dungarpur in the state legislature, has resigned. He claims that he was neglected despite being an MLA of the ruling party, Congress. His resignation letter was delivered to the Speaker, the Chief Minister, and Congress President Sonia Gandhi. The resignation comes prior to the upcoming assembly election next year.

AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan Granted Bail In Anti Encroachment Case
AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan and his followers were apprehended on May 13 for disrupting the anti-encroachment drive in Shaheen Bagh on May 9. On May 14, he was granted bail after presenting a bail bond of Rs.50,000 with two sureties in the same amount. "It is a fact that accused persons were carrying no weapons with them," Metropolitan Magistrate Himanshu Tanwar said.

Gujarat MLA Jignesh Mevani has been convicted of unlawful assembly over a 2017 rally. A magisterial court in Gujarat has convicted ten people, including MLA Jignesh Mevani, for carrying out a rally in Mehsana back in 2017. The Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, J A Parmar, noted, “it is not an offence to hold (a) rally but it is an offence to hold (a) rally without permission."

Independent MLA Booked In Ranchi Over Allegations Misuse Of Covid Funds
Saryu Roy, an independent MLA in Ranchi has been booked over his allegations of misuse of Covid-related fund money against the state Health Minister. An FIR has been filed under the MLA under the Official Secrets Act, Sections 409/379/411/120B and 420 of the IPC. Earlier, Roy had demanded action against Health Minister Banna Gupta. He was later served a legal notice by Gupta.

58-Year-Old Odisha MLA Appears For Class 10 Exam
A 58-year-old MLA in Odisha's Phulbani, who had to drop out of school over forty years ago, recently appeared for the first in the ongoing Class 10 papers. Angada Kanhar, a BJD MLA, shared that he had to leave education abruptly due to some family reasons. He is, however, not the only politician to appear for the exams. Luckily for them, there is no age limit for the exams.

Gujarat MLA Jignesh Mevani Arrested Soon After Getting Bail
Gujarat MLA Jignesh Mevani has been arrested again after being granted bail, six days after being arrested for pressing "objectionable" tweets targeting PM Modi. The police from Barpeta district arrested Mevani again, however, refused to disclose in which case the Gujarat MLA was re-arrested. On April 20, Mevani was arrested from his home state following a complaint filed by an Assam BJP leader seeking action against him under the IT Act.

Charge-Sheet Filed Against SP MLA For Violating Model Code
A charge-sheet has been filed against Samajwadi Party MLA Brajesh Yadav over his breach of the Model Code of Conduct amid the recent Assembly Elections in Uttar Pradesh. A case was registered based on a video circulating on social media, which shows Yadav making a provocative speech against his political rivals. The charge-sheet was filed against him in a Budaun court.

Assam Police Arrests Gujarat MLA Jignesh Mevani Over 'Offensive' Tweet
The Assam police has arrested Gujarat MLA Jignesh Mevani over some of his tweets. He has been booked under Sections 153 (A) (for spreading enmity among communities), 120 (B) (for criminal conspiracy), 295 (A) and 504 (for intentionally provoking breach of peace). Mevani's supporters are reportedly planning to stage a protest against his arrest in Delhi. Meanwhile, the Gujarat Congress has also condemned the Assam police over the arrest.

8 CPI MLAs Carried Out Of Bihar Assembly For Creating Ruckus
In a chaotic incident at Bihar assembly on March 31, eight CPI MLAs were carried out of the assembly for creating "ruckus", by order of the speaker. According to CPI MLA Birendra Prasad Gupta, the government is trying to create a "Hindu-Muslim divide in the state". He further stated that the MLAs wanted a discussion on the issues they raised, which the assembly speaker refused.
