Following the devastating rail tragedy that claimed over 300 lives, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to Odisha today, according to government sources. He will proceed to the accident scene in Balasore before going to the hospital in Cuttack, according to what they said. In order to examine the situation in relation to the rail tragedy, PM Modi has also called a meeting. Meanwhile, the death toll is constantly rising.

Sharad Pawar Announces Resignation As NCP Chief
In an event of political drama, National Congress Party (NCP) President Sharad Pawar announced to step down as the Chief. Pawar made the announcement at the launch of his revised version of the autobiography which was met with protests by party workers and leaders who asked the octogenarian leader to rescind the decision. Patel said Pawar did not take anyone into confidence before announcing his resignation, protesting the decision.

BCCI Issues Advisory For Coronavirus Amid Ongoing IPL
Amid the rising number of COVID-19 cases in India, the BCCI issued a set of guidelines and advisories, to be followed. The decision came amid the ongoing Indian Premiere League (IPL) 16th edition, which started on March 31. One of the major pieces of advice in the guidelines is to give importance to precautions taken by players, to avoid the spread of the Novel Coronavirus.

PM Modi To Inaugurate 75 Digital Bank Units, 2 In Jammu & Kashmir
PM Narendra Modi will dedicate two digital banking units of Jammu & Kashmir Bank to the nation on October 16, said PMO. The launch of 75 digital banking units (DBUs) of different banks across the country of which two are of Jammu and Kashmir Bank, via video conference. Of the two, one is the SSI branch at Lal Chowk in Srinagar and the other is Channi Rama branch in Jammu.

Death Toll Rises To 11 In Nashik Bus Fire Tragedy
In Maharashtra’s Nashik, a bus caught fire on October 7, claiming the lives of 11 persons including a minor, informed city police. Moreover, the injured persons are currently undergoing treatment. In New Delhi’s Gandhi Nagar market fire incident, a 19-year-old boy was charred to death on October 5, informed officials. The deceased was reportedly an employee and owner’s brother at the shop that caught on fire. The incident was first reported by Aftab, a worker at the cloth shop, who saw smoke from the shop as he was returning from the main road.

LPG Cylinder Blasts In UP’s Loni; 4 Killed, 2 Injured
In Uttar Pradesh’s Loni, four persons have died and two others were injured following LPG cylinder blast in Babul Garden on October 5. The incident reportedly brought down a two-storey building. After receiving a call about the incident at around 10 am, police and fire department officials rushed to the spot. Bodies of six people were found buried in the debris, out of which, four were dead.

Container Truck Carrying Bottles Of Shampoo, Perfume Catches Fire In Gujarat’s Valsad
A container truck in Gujarat’s Valsad caught fire on NH 48, in the early hours of October 1. The incident reportedly took place near Motiwada village, when the truck was en route to Ahmedabad from Mumbai. Following the incident, five fire tenders rushed to the spot to douse the fire. Reportedly, the truck was carrying bottles of shampoo and perfume, and it took almost two hours to douse the fire.
