Punjab Govt Passes Bill For Free Gurbani Telecast From Golden Temple
The Punjab Assembly on Tuesday passed a bill introduced by the AAP government for the free broadcast of sacred Gurbani from the Golden Temple in Amritsar. The bill was passed despite opposition from the religious sikh community in Amritsar. However, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann said, Gurbani is everyone's right and it should be free of cost. The new proposal amend the Sikh Gurdwaras Act, 1925 and insert Section 125 A.

MLA Balwinder Singh Laddi Rejoins Congress: Punjab Assembly Polls
Punjab MLA Balwinder Singh Laddi rejoined Congress, on January 3. Notably, he joined the opposition BJP on December 28 in presence of Punjab's BJP leaders and Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. However, in six days, Laddi rejoined the Congress, in presence of AICC Punjabi in-charge Harish Chaudhary and CM Charanjit Singh Channi. The switch of parties came ahead of 2022 Punjab Assembly elections.

Samyukta Kisan Morcha Says Not Participating In 2022 Punjab Poll
Ahead of the upcoming Punjab election, two leaders of the nine-member coordination committee of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) on December 25 announced that the Morcha won't contest the election. Furthermore, they said the Morcha was only made to resolve the farmers' issues related to the three agricultural laws. It has also been announced that disciplinary action will be taken if anyone uses the organisation's name in the poll.

New Party Launched In Punjab To Fight For Farmers: Punjab Election
In Punjab, ahead of the upcoming assembly election, a new political party namely ''Krantikari Mazdoor Kisan Party'' has been launched on November 20. ''The party will fight for the issues faced by workers, peasants, farmers, and people of Punjab,'' said Lashkar Singh, Chairman of the party. However, the party is yet to be registered with the Election Commission of India. We'll fight the full-fledged Punjab election, added Singh.
