Victoria Azarenka was beaten by Anna Karolina Schmeidlova with 6-2, 6-2 in the second round of the French Open on September 30. The 161-seeded Slovak stunned the US Open runner-up who made 37 unforced errors. Despite the slip fall on her left knee, Anna remained unaffected, and she eased through for a win. She took down Venus Williams in her first round and is set to face Nadia Podoroska.

French Open: Cold And Rainy Weather Frustrates Azarenka, Kovinic

Victoria Azarenka and opponent Danka Kovinic left the court thrice due to the cold winds and persistent drizzle in the French Open on September 27. French Open to Allow Only 5000 Viewers Per Day As COVID Cases Surge

The French Tennis Federation on September 17 reduced the number of fans who will be permitted to spectate matches: from 11,500 to 5000. The decision was taken in view of the recent rise in COVID-19 cases. "The health situation in the Ile-de-France region has led the Paris Police Prefecture to limit the number of spectators", said the FFT. The tournament is scheduled to begin on September 27 in Roland Garros.
