The 161-seeded Slovak stunned the US Open runner-up who made 37 unforced errors. Despite the slip fall on her left knee, Anna remained unaffected, and she eased through for a win. She took down Venus Williams in her first round and is set to face Nadia Podoroska.

French Open: Djokovic Advances To Second Round After Victory Against Mikael Ymer
Novak Djokovic moved to the second round of the French Open after defeating Mikael Ymer 6-0,6-2,6-3 at Roland Garros, on September 29. The 33-year-old is attempting to become the first person in 50 years to win all four Grand Slam titles twice. Commenting on the match, Djokovic said that the atmosphere was different this year with only few fans and added, “I remain motivated to win the title.”

French Open 2020: Andy Murray Losses to Stan Wawrinka In First Round
Switzerland's Stan Wawrinka defeated Britain's Andy Murray 6-1, 6-3, 6-2 in the first round of the French Open on September 28. Murray, who entered the tournament with a wild card entry, played on the claycourt after three years. "I should be analyzing and trying to understand why the performance was like that...But I'll keep going. Let's see what the next few months hold,” Murray said after his loss.

French Open: Cold And Rainy Weather Frustrates Azarenka, Kovinic
Victoria Azarenka and opponent Danka Kovinic left the court thrice due to the cold winds and persistent drizzle in the French Open on September 27. After 15 minutes from the start, the game was suspended due to a cold temperature of around 10 degrees Celsius. Later, the match was moved to another court that had a retractable roof. Azarenka managed to win 6-1, 6-2.

Indian tennis player Ankita Raina lost her match against Japan’s Kurumi Nara in the second round at the French Open qualifiers with 3-6, 2-6 which was held on September 24 at Roland Garros. Post Raina's defeat, there is no Indian left to play singles at the clay court. “The match was not bad. I had chances in my service game but she returned very well today,” Raina said.

French Open Qualifiers: India's Ankita Raina Reaches Second Round
Indian tennis player Ankita Raina made her way into the second round of the French Open Qualifiers after defeating Jovana Jovic, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4, on September 22 at Roland Garros. The Indian top seed took down the Serbian after an extended back-and-forth battle. Raina secured 53 winners and committed 46 unforced-errors during her comeback to clinch the victory. French Open to Allow Only 5000 Viewers Per Day As COVID Cases Surge
The French Tennis Federation on September 17 reduced the number of fans who will be permitted to spectate matches: from 11,500 to 5000. The decision was taken in view of the recent rise in COVID-19 cases. "The health situation in the Ile-de-France region has led the Paris Police Prefecture to limit the number of spectators", said the FFT. The tournament is scheduled to begin on September 27 in Roland Garros.
