PM Modi To Be First To Chair UNSC Open Debate On Maritime Security
PM Narendra Modi becomes the first PM of India to chair a UNSC high-level Open Debate on ''Enhancing Maritime Security - A case for International Cooperation'' on August 9 at 5:30 PM. The agenda of the meeting is to enhance cooperation between countries, tackling maritime crime, insecurity and strengthening ties. India To Share Its Vision On Afghanistan At UNSC Meet

FATF Retains Pakistan Under 'Grey-List', Assigns New Task
Bad News! The Financial Action Task Force has not given any relief to Pakistan, retaining it on the grey-list during the virtually held plenary session on June 25. In a new development, the FATF said that Pakistan had been assigned 27 tasks but it failed to complete the last task of convicting terrorists. Foreign Minister S Jaishankar Boycotts China-led Security Council Meet
Owing to the tensions between India and China, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar remained absent at the Security Council meeting convened by China on May 7. The virtual meeting focused on multilateralism and maintenance of international peace was instead attended by Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla. Arms Embargo Against Iran Comes To End Under Terms Of UNSC Resolution
Iran government on October 18 celebrated the termination of UN's arms embargo (arms ban) against the country imposed in 2007. The enduring ban on arms' purchase has come to an end under the terms of UNSC resolution, which was passed after the signing of 2015 Nuclear Deal. Iran's Foreign Ministry said that the country can now "procure any necessary arms and equipment" for its defence purposes.

Pak Attempts to List 2 Indians as Terrorists, India Thanks UNSC for Rejecting Claim
On September 3, India thanked United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for rejecting Pakistan's attempt in naming two Indians, Angara Appaji and Gobinda Patnaik in the list of terrorists. The claim was rejected on the basis of no evidence. "Pakistan's blatant attempt to politicise 1267 special procedure on terrorism by giving it a religious colour, has been thwarted by UN Security Council," tweeted T S Tirumurti, India's UN representative.
