Reliance Jio, Adani group & Major Participates In 5G Telecom Spectrum Auction

The auction for 5G telecom spectrum began on July 25. Four key contenders are Reliance Jio, Adani Group, Bharti Airtel, and Vodafone Idea. Vodafone Idea Follows Airtel To Hike Mobile Tariffs In India

Following the footprints of Airtel, Vodafone Idea hiked the prices for all prepaid mobile plans on November 23. The base plan of the Vodafone Idea has been increased to Rs 99 from 79. The popular plan of Rs 599 will cost Rs 719. The annual plan of Rs 2,399 registered a hike of Rs 500. However, the company said the tariff will be effective from November 25 in India.

Vodafone Idea Share Prices Sees 7% Hike

Vodafone Idea (VI) share prices rose 7% during the intraday trading. According to reports, the promoters of the company are ready to infuse Rs 10,000 crore in the company. The company is making an attempt to release burden of debt from the government through the issue of equity. Ravinder Takker, VI CEO said that, "any payments to cutoff interest amount will be made in accordance with SEBI guidelines."

Jio Leads Wireless Subscribers Base With 6.1 Million New Users In July

In a recent report published by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Jio led an active wireless subscriber base with  6.1 million users while Bharati Airtel stood second at 2.3 million for the month of July. "Based on the active subscribers market, Jio now shares the market leadership position with Bharti," the report highlighted. The pace of Bharti Airtel's new subscribers slowed down in the recorded month.

Govt. Wants VIL To Compete In Indian Telecom Market: Vodafone CEO

Vodafone Idea Ltd (VIL) Managing Director and CEO Ravinder Takkar told PTI that the government has presented an alternative to paying back dues via equity shares. He also said it would not want to acquire the firm, considering it wants VIL to be one among three private players to compete in the Indian telecom market. VIL has total gross debt of Rs. 1.91 lakh crore.

VIL Achieves Download Speed Of 1.5 Gbps In 5G Trails

In its 5G trials on government allocated 5G spectrum in Pune and Gandhinagar, Vodafone Idea Ltd (VIL) has managed to achieve the downloading speed of up to 1.5 Gb/s with low latency on the mm-Wave spectrum band. Reportedly, it will improve video streaming/broadcast and online gaming experience. Sharing the achievement, VIL CTO Jagbir Singh said, ''We're pleased with speed and latency results in the initial stages of the 5G trials".

Vodafone Idea Says It Could Go Bankrupt If AGR Errors Not Rectified

A reappraisal was filed by Vodafone Idea Limited (VIL) in the SC after it rejected its plea to rectify errors in calculating adjusted gross revenues (AGR). Calling it a "travesty of justice", the telecom operator said that the apex court has restricted VIL from questioning arithmetical errors which could cost them about Rs 25,000 crore. VIL also said that the company could go bankrupt leaving customers "high and dry."

Jio Gains New Users, Airtel, Vodafone Idea Loses Subscribers: TRAI Data

According to the Telecom regulator authority of India (TRAI), Reliance Jio accumulated a 35.54 lakh new wireless subscriber base in May and currently has 43.12 crore users in India. However, Airtel's user base decreased by 46.13 lakh to 34.8 core and Vodafone Idea lost 42.8 lakh subscribers and the user base stands at 27.7 core. Notably, the total users in India stand at 117.6 core.

Reliance Jio Turns Top Bidder At 4G Spectrum Sale; Spends Rs 57K Cr

Reliance Jio has become the top bidder at the 2021 4G spectrum auction by acquiring the 488.35MHz band for Rs 57,122.65 crore. Becoming the largest holder in 2300 MHz and sub-GHz spectrum, Jio increased its spectrum footprint by 55%. Similarly, Airtel and Vodafone-Idea have acquired 355.45 MHz and 11.80 MHz respectively, worth Rs 18,698.75 crore and Rs 1,993.40 crore. However, participants didn't bid for 700 MHz and 2500 MHz.

Vodafone-Idea Narrows Net Loss To Rs 4,532 Crore For Q3 Of FY2021

Vodafone-Idea has narrowed its loss to Rs 4,532 crore in the Q3 of FY21 after gaining Rs 2,118 crore by selling an 11.5% stake in Indus Towers to the merged Bharti Infratel-Indus Towers. Reportedly, the company posted Rs 7,218.5 crore net loss in the Q2 of FY21 and Rs 6,438 crore for the same period in the previous year.
