IMD Issues 'Orange alert' For Mumbai For Next 5 Days; Anticipates Heavy Rains

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an "orange" alert for the next five days over Mumbai and the west coast of Maharashtra, forecasting torrential rainfall and high winds. KS Hosalikar, an IMD official, stated that severe rains are expected in Mumbai, Thane, and adjoining regions. Hosalikar further advised monitoring the Impact Based Forecast (IBF) and the Mumbai Flood Warning System IFLOWS.

IMD Forecasts Moderate To Heavy Rainfall In Delhi Till July 10

Delhi received light to moderate rainfall on July 3, with the maximum temperature settling at 35.7 degrees Celsius. With estimates of moderate to heavy rainfall, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has declared a yellow alert for the next two days and an "orange" alert for July 6. The IMD predicts that till July 10, Delhi will see a typically gloomy sky with light showers and thunderstorms.

IMD Forecasts ‘Very Heavy Rainfall’ In Mumbai & Surrounding Areas

Mumbai experienced persistent moderate rainfall and severe rainfall in isolated areas on June 30 due to strong winds and the building of a trough. For the next 48 hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts "very heavy rainfall" across the city and surrounding areas. Doctors in the city have advised citizens to take additional care during the monsoon season to prevent catching dengue, leptospirosis, or malaria.

Thunderstorms, Lightning Storms Kill 16 People In Bihar; Heavy Rain Forecast: IMD

16 people died in seven districts of Bihar on June 28 as a result of lightning strikes and thunderstorms. East Champaran had four lightning-related fatalities, Bhojpur had three, Saran had three, West Champaran had two, Araria had two, Banka had one, and Muzaffarpur had one. India Meteorological Department forecasted heavy rain in Bihar on June 29 and 30. However, moderate rain is expected throughout Bihar on July 1 and 2.

IMD Predicts Rainfall In Rajasthan Divisions For Next Few Days

Rajasthan's Bikaner, Jodhpur, Jaipur, Ajmer, Kota and Bharatpur divisions reported over 3 cm of rainfall, in the past 24-hours. On June 22, the State Meteorological Department confirmed 5 mm rain in Bikaner, while Chhabra (Baran) and Mount Abu (Sirohi) received 4 cm and 3 cm rains, respectively. The weather department also predicted light rains in Bikaner and Jodhpur divisions on June 23-26, and in Udaipur, Kota on June 26-27.

Kashmir Valley Reports Flood Like Situation Amid Continuous Rainfall

Heavy rains in Jammu and Kashmir could lead to flood-like situation in the Kashmir valleys, as most of the water bodies are having rise in water level. On June 22, the concerned authorities said, after the continuous rainfall for the past four days Jhelum river crossed the flood alarm mark at Sangam in Anantnag. IMD Issues Yellow Alert In Delhi, Temperature Expected To Drop

India Meteorological Department declared a yellow alert in Delhi on June 15, anticipating thunderstorms and strong winds in the national capital. The city saw a low temperature of 29.4 degrees Celsius on June 15. Over the next six days, the IMD predicts thunderstorms or light rainfall in Delhi. The temperature is expected to dip to 35 degrees Celsius by June 19 due to the rains, as per the forecast.
