Comedian Munawar Faruqui Gets Interim Bail; SC Issues Notice To MP Govt
The Supreme Court on February 5 permitted ad-interim bail to comedian Munawar Faruqui who was arrested for purportedly offending religious sentiments of Hindus. The court also issued notice to the Madhya Pradesh government for not complying with the rules laid under the Section 41 of the CrPC (Arrest without warrant). Besides, Justices Rohinton Fali Nariman and BR Gavai deferred Uttar Pradesh Police's production warrant against Faruqui in a separate case.
