NBSA Claims Zee News Violated the Code of Ethics
In a response to a complaint filed by activist Saket Gokhale and an NGO Citizens For Justice and Peace, the News Broadcasters Association (NBSA) has summoned Zee news for breach of ethics code. Reportedly, both the parties filed a complaint against the Zee Network and its editor-in-chief Sudhir Chaudhary, for a show that allegedly "vilified the Muslim community". In March, Zee News aired a show "DNA test of Islamic conversion of land in Jammu" which is said to have had contentious remarks about the Islamic community. The anchor was also accused of supporting 'Islamophobia' by asking them to trend #ZameenJihad. NBSA opined that the show was against the secular ethos of the country. It further said, "The broadcast had also violated the fundamental principles of Code of Ethics such as impartiality, objectivity, neutrality & fairness in reporting." NBSA further asked the parties to appear for a video-hearing on November 26 without fail.
