Odisha Demands Relief Fund of Rs 1,100 Crore from Central Government
Odisha government has requested a financial aid of Rs 1,100 crore from the central government, owing to the floods in the state. The state government said that the flood has affected 14 lakh people in 6,000 villages across 19 districts, and ruined around 2.25 lakh hectares of agricultural land, including damages to 1.2 lakh houses. Reportedly, the Centre has agreed to support the state while stressing the need for "long-term-measures".
