Photographer Shot 1,000 Hrs In 12 Years To Create Milky Way Panorama

Finnish photographer JP Metsavainio has created a panorama of the Milky Way in over 12 years with 1200 hours of exposure. The panorama with 1,00,000 pixels wide and 234 mosaic panels stitched together features over 20Mn stars. Astrophotographer by profession, Metsavainio started working on it in 2009 and used Photoshop to do the mosaic work. Talking about the Cygnus constellation, Metsavainio stated, "I can spend the rest of my life…shooting images from this treasury.”
