SL Navy Nabs 54 Indian Fisherman For Trespassing Territorial Waters
For trespassing around 62-km into Sri Lanka's territorial waters, the Lankan navy arrested 54 Indian fishermen and seized five trawlers on March 24. Nabbing 14 rods near the Kovilan coast, the island nation’s navy busted 20 fishermen near Iranativu Island and 20 other fishers near Mullaitivu who crossed International Boundary Line (IMBL). The Lankan navy said the fishermen were arrested for poaching and exploiting the sustainability of fishery resources of Sri Lanka.
