Sri Lanka To Shut Madrassas, Ban Burqas: Minister Weerasekara
Sri Lanka's Public Security Minister Sarath Weerasekara has announced the country's plans to ban burqas and almost 1000 Madrassas. Highlighting the threat to national security, Sarath called Burqa a sign of religious extremism that came into existence recently. Moreover, the government plans to ban 1,000 Madrassas since they are not registered with the authorities.
