Ukraine Demands World Heritage Tag To Chernobyl Disaster City
With increased tourist footfall at Ukraine’s Chernobyl nuclear site, the officials have been demanding a 'World Heritage' tag from UNESCO. Due to an increase in wildlife, visitors can spot elk and deer in the nearby forests. However, authorities believe the place is not safe for another 24,000 years, which was declared ‘exclusion zone’ after the 1986 disaster. Ukraine Minister Oleksander Tkachenko said the Heritage tag will likely attract over million tourists.
