US Bans Pork Trade From India Over African Swine Fever
The US’ Department of Agriculture's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has named India in the list of countries affected by the highly contagious African swine fever. Releasing the notification, nearly year after confirmation, the US Department of Agriculture has imposed restriction on import of pork and pork products. Notably, Indian pork-related exports to US clocked $5,00,000-mark in 2020. Reportedly, the contagious ASF swine disease has extremely high rate of morbidity.
