US Pilot Known For Breaking Sound Barrier Passes Away At 97
Chuck Yeager, one of the world's most famous test pilot, has died at 97, informed his spouse Victoria Yeager on December 7. Yeager was the first pilot to break the sound barrier in 1947, when he flew the Aircraft X-1 at over 700 mph. The World War II veteran, remembered for shooting down five German planes in one day, was also decorated with 'Presidential Medal of Freedom' by Ronald Reagan in 1985.
