US Shows Displeasure Over India Censoring COVID-Related Social Media Posts
The US government on April 27 showed disapproval towards India's decision of censoring social media contents that were critical of the Centre's response to the COVID-19 crisis. The US stated, "That certainly wouldn't be aligned with our view of freedom of speech around the world". As of now, both Twitter and Facebook have removed over 100 such posts and URLs, including those from prominent figures, opposition leaders, journalists and filmmakers.
