PM Modi To Launch 5g Services In October, Says Union Govt

PM Narendra Modi is likely to launch 5g services in India in October 2023. As per the Government's National Broadband Mission Twitter, "Taking India's digital transformation & connectivity to new heights, Hon'ble PM, @narendramodi, will roll out 5G services in India; at India Mobile Congress; Asia's largest technology exhibition." Notably, India is set to have 80% coverage of 5g services, to be launched by BJP-led Central Govermment.

India will get 5G services by March 2023, said Union Communications Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. 5g To Roll Out In Selected Metro Cities Next Year

Telecom operators announced to establish 5g roll out in Indian metro cities on December 28. As per the release, 5g services will be launched in Hyderabad, Pune, Kolkata, Gurugram, Chandigarh, Mumbai, Lucknow, Chennai, Ahmedabad and others, first.  Telecom providers like Airtel, Jio, Vodafone are said to be a part of the big project, worth Rs 224 crores. The project will be completed by December 31, 2021 for the trial launch.

Delhi HC Slaps 20 Lakh Fine On Juhi Chawla Over Her Plea Against 5G

The Delhi high court has dismissed actor Juhi Chawla's plea against the 5G network rollout in India. Terming the plea as an "abuse of the process of law," the court slapped Rs 20 lakh fine on Juhi. Warning him of wasting the court’s time, the bench called Chawla’s plea as a conduct for "publicity". Reportedly, the fine money will be used to help road accident victims.

Actress Juhi Chawla Files Plea Against 5G Implementation In Delhi HC

Actress Juhi Chawla has filed a plea in Delhi HC against the implementation of 5G network in India. Reportedly, the suit directs concerned departments to properly study and certify whether the effects of the implementation are safe or not. The eco-activist actress also requested to ensure whether the implementation would be safe in the near future also. Accepting the plea, the court scheduled the hearing on June 2.

Tech giant Xiaomi has launched the Mi 10i in India starting at Rs 20,999. The Mi 10i comes with three RAM and storage variants, featuring a 6.67-inch Full HD+ LCD. The device has been powered by the Snapdragon 750G chipset and a 4,820mAh battery. With a 108MP primary camera, the quad-camera phone will support 5G network. Airtel, Ericsson Renew Contract To Deploy 5G-ready Radio Network

Airtel on October 7 renewed its contract with Ericsson for five years to deploy 5G-ready radio network. Bharti Airtel stated that the decision is aimed at enhancing the experience of its customers. "Delighted to deepen our partnership with Ericsson as part of our endeavor to build a network ready for 5G and beyond," said Airtel's CTO Randeep Sekhon. Earlier, both the companies has extended another contract in July this year.

Different Networks Emit Different Levels of Carbon while Streaming, Study Reveals

A research study by a German environmental agency has shown that streaming in HD quality emits different amounts of carbon vis-à-vis technology of transmission. The research stated that lowest emission is during optical fibre transmission with 2 grams per hour of streaming and highest is during a 3G transmission with upto 90 grams. The agency stated that as per the research, countries should step up and expand fibre optic networks.
