India registered 18,257 new Covid-19 cases with 42 fatalities, taking the active cases and death toll to 1,28,690 and  5,25,428, respectively. India reported a huge increase in daily Covid-19 cases, with 12,213 infections and 11 fatalities reported, bringing the overall death toll to 5,24,803 on June 16. There are currently 58,215 active cases. On June 16, India also reported 7,624 recoveries, bringing the overall number of recoveries to 4,26,74,712. According to the Health Ministry, daily positivity rate was 2.35 percent and weekly positivity rate was 2.38 percent.  

In 24 hours, Mizoram registered 2,064 new COVID-19 cases, taking the tally of active cases to 13,721. As per the sources, the positivity rate in the state stands at 27.32%, while 591 deaths have been reported so far. Notably, 1,67,725 COVID cases have been reported in the Mizoram state in total, confirmed the health department. Meanwhile, over 163.84 crore vaccine doses have been administered in the country till the date.

In Karnataka 8,449 new COVID-19 cases and four deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours, informed the health department on January 7. The cumulative case tally with new cases in the state mounted to 30,31,052, of which 30,113 are active cases. So far, 38,362 people have died, and 29,62,548 recovered. Reportedly, the positivity rate stands at 4.15%. 

Nagaland reported four new cases of Covid-19, on December 18, taking the total number of cases to 32,169. Reportedly, 701 total fatalities have been recorded in the state, and no new deaths were recorded for the second consecutive day. Also, Nagaland's active caseload stands at 84, at present. On December 18, Nagaland recorded three new recoveries. According to the State Immunization Officer, 7,56,904 people have been vaccinated so far.
