WHO Says Britain's New Coronavirus Strain Not "Out Of Control"
Talking about the new COVID-19 strain found in Britain, WHO's emergencies chief Michael Ryan said it was not "out of control". During the press meet on December 21, he stated the existing measures were appropriate to keep the new strain in control. British Grandma Becomes First To Get Covid Vaccine In World
An elderly British woman Margaret Keenan has become the first individual on the planet get a trial independent Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine. The 90-year-old Keenan has been vaccinated at a local clinic in England's Coventry on December 8. Keenan, who will turn 91 next week, has described the vaccine as the best gift for her birthday. British PM Johnson To Attend 2021 Republic Day As Chief Guest
India has formally invited the UK PM Boris Johnson to be the chief guest at 2021 Republic Day. The invitation was extended over a telephonic conversation by PM Narendra Modi on November 27. British TV Entertainer Des O'Conner Passes Away At 88
British TV personality Des O'Conner, CBE passed away at 88 on November 14 at his residence in Buckinghamshire following a deterioration in his health condition. He started his television career in 1954 and had hosted several shows including the 'Des O'Conner Tonight', which aired for 25 years. He also released 36 albums as a singer. His long-time ally Pat Lake-Smith said, "Des loved being on stage – entertaining a live audience."

Britain To Test T Cell Response Of COVID Vaccines For Cross Comparison
With an intent to determine the T cell responses of various Coronavirus vaccines, the UK announced that it has collaborated with an Oxford-based company. Reportedly, UK plans to test the response with six vaccines including AstraZeneca and Pfizer. The T cell immunity provides a long-term immunity as compared to antibodies. According to chair of UK Vaccines Task Force, this also provides a means for cross-comparison of vaccines.
