Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Chandigarh, to pay the last respect to S Prakash Singh Badal. Notably, after a prolonged illness, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader and five times Punjab CM Prakash Singh Badal (95,) passed away, on April 25. Political leaders like Rahul Gandhi, K Chandrashekar Rao and other paid tribute and expressed condolences to Prakash Singh Badal.

Floating Solar Plant Set Up On Dhanas Lake In Punjab’s Chandigarh
In Punjab’s Chandigarh, a floating solar plant of 500 kilowatts has been installed on Dhanas lake. Following the installing, the plant will soon be made operational. The plant will reportedly be used to generate electricity for the forest department, and for the three fountains which will be set up on the same lake. The fountains are expected to be installed within this month.

CBI Officials Arrested For Conducting Fake Raid: Chandigarh Police
In Chandigarh, four Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officers have been arrested for allegedly conducting a fake raid on an IT firm, aiming at money extortion. On May 12, the union territory police said, the accused officers conducted a raid even when they were not posted there and had no case or mandate. Suspecting the raid suspicious, the firm informed the police, who arrested the officials and registered a case.

Section 144 Imposed Ahead Of Demolition Drive: Chandigarh
Under the orders of UT district magistrate, Chandigarh administration has imposed Section 144 of CrPC in the area, due to the ongoing demolition drive. The order has come after the apprehension that the people in the area may cause obstruction to the demolition drive. According to the order, Section 144 has been imposed in "Colony 4, Industrial Area, Phase 1, Chandigarh and within 500 meters from it periphery".
