J&K Govt Kick-Start Children's Vaccination Drive

The first vaccination drive for children between the age group of 15-18 years, was kick-started by government of Jammu & Kashmir on January 3. Officials said that 822 vaccination sites have been set up across twenty districts of the union territory. Additional Chief Secretary of Health & Medical Education Department Vivek Bharadvaj said that it is a special day for Kashmir, as "8.33 lakh children will be vaccinated" in J&K.

Over 3 Lakh Kids Registered On Day 1 For Vaccine On Co-WIN Portal

As the Co-WIN portal opened for registration, 3,26,591 lakh children aged between 15 to 18 registered themselves for the COVID-19 vaccine administration till January 1, 11:59 pm. The vaccine administration at the center will start from January 3 onwards. However, the Union government also allowed walk-in registration. Notably, the government has said that ''children born in 2007 and earlier shall be eligible to receive the vaccine''.

Assam Govt Set To Start Vaccination For Kids After New Year

The COVID-19 vaccination drive for children who're between the age of 15 to 18 years is set to be started after the new year on January 3, informed the Assam government. In the beginning, it'll begin with education institutions, covering only students, reported ANI citing the Health Minister Mahanta. Notably, Bharat Biotech's COVID-19 vaccine has already got the approval to administer the vaccine to kids aged between 12-18 years.

SII To Launch Covavax For Children In Mid 2022: Adar Poonawalla

The Serum Institute of India CEO Adar Poonawalla announced to launch COVID-19 vaccine against children (3+). Addressing an event at SII, on December 14, Poonawalla said, Covavax is an Indian made version of the US-based Novavax. It is currently under trial and is showing excellent results on children. 10 School Children Bitten By Rabies Infected Dog: Uttar Pradesh

In Uttar Pradesh's Shamli district, as many as ten school children were bitten by a rabies infected dog while they were going to school in Jahanpur village. The incident reportedly took place on December 3 and four children were sent to the hospital, identified as Sadik (4), Mahak (4), Insha (10), and Shyam (7). Furthermore, the dog was killed by the "angry" villagers.

Australian Govt To End Violence Against Women: Domestic Violence Commission

The government of Australia announced to build a new commission to help end violence against women and children in the country, on November 23. The commission is part of the government's new national plan to reduce family, domestic, and sexual violence, which will come into effect in 2022, reported UNI. Reportedly, the funding of 22.4 million Australian dollars has also been allotted for the same.
