Delhi Govt Initiates Free Food Program For Homeless

In alliance with Akshaya Patra Foundation, Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on August 8 initiated a "food distribution program" for the destitute community living in shelter homes all around the city. The objective of the initiative is to supply meals to the homeless throughout NGO's 209 shelter homes which will provide food to 6000 people. "We have worked a lot for the poor", Kejriwal said.

Delhi Govt Inaugurates 'Pink Line' Metro; Longest Corridor In Region

The Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, along with the CM Arvind Kejriwal inaugurated Delhi's Pink Line Metro on August 6 through a virtual conference. The Union Minister said, "important transport hubs, markets, residential areas across the city will now get connected benefiting lakhs of passengers." However, the pink line is considered Delhi's longest Corridor of 59 Km and the passengers can avail of the services now.

Delhi Rape Case: CM Arvind Kejriwal Announces Magisterial Probe

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal announced a magisterial probe to examine the death and alleged gang rape of a nine-year-old girl in Delhi. He also announced a compensation of Rs 10 Lakh to the family of the deceased. The girl was found dead and cremated by her mother at a crematorium near her house on August 1. The police have arrested four people including priest Radhey Shyam.

Delhi Government To Nominate Doctors, Healthcare Workers For Padma Awards

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced on July 27 that the Delhi government is going to nominate the names only of doctors and health workers to the Center for the Padma awards. The CM issued an email address, [email protected] – where people can forward their recommendations. The names will be shortlisted and finalized by the committee led by Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.

Delhi Based Gyms To Re-Open From Next Week: Chirag Sethi

Concerned about the debts and “big distress” for the owners, the Delhi Gym Association has urged the government in a letter to consider reopening gyms. Chirag Sethi, the vice president of the association mentioned, “We met the Chief Minister today and received a very positive response. He has promised us that gyms will be allowed to open from next week.” Gyms were the first organisation to get closed owing to the pandemic.

A fire mishap at Delhi's Lajpat Nagar spread to five showrooms adjacent to each other and caused huge financial losses to the owners.
