4 Tamil Nadu Fishers' Bodies Found At Sri Lankan Beach
The bodies of four Tamil Nadu fishermen that went missing on January 18 were discovered at a Sri Lankan beach on January 21. While the Indian High Commission in Colombo was informed about the bodies, cause of death is still unclear. However, another group of fisherman has alleged that the fishermen were attacked by the Sri Lankan Navy. Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu CM E Palaniswami has demanded the Centre to instigate a probe in the matter.

Schools And Colleges To Remain Shut: Tamil Nadu Government
After opinions from parents, the Tamil Nadu government has withdrawn the earlier announcements and has postponed the opening of colleges and schools for Classes 9 to 12. Earlier, the government had announced the re-opening of higher educational institutions from November 16. However, from December 2, colleges will re-open for PhD students and final year PG students from science and technical streams as per the UGC guidelines.

Tamil Nadu CM Promises Free COVID-19 Vaccination In State
Following the BJP's manifesto for Bihar elections that promised free COVID-19 vaccine, Tamil Nadu government has echoed the same pledge for its population. Tamil Nadu CM Edappadi K Palaniswami on October 22 said, "Once the COVID-19 vaccine is ready, it will be provided to all people of the state free of cost." Currently, Tamil Nadu stands as the fourth most coronavirus-affected state in the country with 6,97,116 confirmed cases.

Tamilnadu: CM Palaniswamy Announces to Set Up New University
Tamilnadu CM Palaniswamy on September 15 announced that a new university will be set up in Villupuram. The university will be setup after bifurcating the state run Thiruvalluvar university. Reportedly, the university will start functioning from 2020-2021 academic year. The CM further stated that the administration would be more efficient only if universities were restructured in keeping with the establishment of more colleges.
