101 Disaster Management Troops Deployed To Tackle Cyclone Tauktae
To combat cyclone Tauktae the National Disaster Rescue Force (NDRF) has deployed 101 troops with ships and aircraft to different states at risk. Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba with the National Crisis Management Committee has reviewed the situation on May 16, to check the preparedness for the cyclone expected to hit the Gujarat coast on May 18. IMD reported the expected wind speed to be 150 to 160kmph with heavy rainfall.

Thane Civic Body Warns Staff To Not Switch Off Phones During Emergency
Mumbai’s Thane Municipal Corporation has warned the civic body officials not to switch off their phones during emergencies citing that it obstructs the rescue operations. The decision came after several officers were identified of either switching off or not responding to the calls by disaster management cell. ISRO Starts Training Bhutan Engineers For 2021 Satellite Launch
To assist Bhutan in developing a satellite, the ISRO began the phase-wise training for four Bhutanese engineers. While the Phase-1 will focus on theoretical and technical aspects, the final phase will aid the development of INS-2E satellite. To be launched in 2021, Bhutan will use the satellite to trace its natural resources and help in disaster management. Earlier, the tie-up was announced during PM Narendra Modi's 2019 Bhutan visit.
