ED Issues Fresh Summons To Abhishek Banerjee In Coal Scam: Kolkata
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned Abhishek Banerjee, nephew of CM Mamata Banerjee in connection to a money laundering case linked to an alleged coal scam in West Bengal. ED stated that new evidence has been gathered against Abhishek. Abhishek had been summoned by ED on March 21 and on September 6, 2021. The coal scam is related to illegally mines coals being sold in the black market.

LGBT Community In Kolkata Celebrate Holi With Abir & Flowers
The LGBT community in Kolkata celebrated Holi with colour abir and flowers. Ranjita Sinha, Transgender Community Board Member said, they are playing Holi to spread love and happiness in each other's lives. The LGBT community celebrated Holi by singing and dancing on the famous Rabindranath Tagore's song "Ore grihabasi, khol dwar khol laglo je dol". It is celebrated in Kolkata as Doljatra.

Sex Workers In Sonagachi Celebrate Holi After 2 Years: West Bengal
Durbar Mahila Coordination Committee, the largest organisation of sex workers in West Bengal, celebrated Holi on March 18. "The sex workers cannot go out and celebrate the festivals with other community so every year we organize various celebrations in Songachi red-light area," Bishakha Lasker said. Meanwhile, sex workers and children come together to play Holi. "We want them to live a life like all normal people," said Satabdi Das.

West Bengal Suspends Internet Facilities In Some Districts To Check Illegal Activities
The West Bengal government announced an eight-day suspension of internet facilities in seven districts. The Home and Hill Affairs Department WB, Additional Chief Secretary released a statement, "The restriction will be imposed in a few blocks of Malda, Murshidabad, Uttar Dinajpur, Coochbehar, Jalpaiguri, Birbhum and Darjeeling On March 7 to 9, March 11 and 12, and on March 15 and 16 from 11:oo AM to 3:15 PM."

NCB Seizes 6 kg Ganja and 3,375 phensedyl bottles In West Bengal, Arrests 1
The Narcotics Control Bureau Kolkata has retrieved 6 kg Ganja and 3,375 phensedyl bottles on February 8. The accused has been held by the police and has been identified as Krishnapada Paul, a resident of Bagdah. On the specific input by Border Security Force, Krishnanagar, NCB seized 3,375 phensedyl bottles, 6 kg Ganja, two cars, Rs 85,671 cash, and one American dollar from Paul.

Accident In Metropolis Kolkata Leaves 14 Persons Injured
A mini bus turned turtle in the metropolis Kolkata on January 30. At least 14 persons got injured. Police sources have said that the incident took place during afternoon at 2:10 pm, when the vehicle travelling to Howrah overturned at Dorina crossing, park street. Reports said that a mechnical fault or a tyre burst could be the reason behind the accident. The police launched an investigation.

India's Former Footballer Subhas Bhowmick Dies At 72
Subhas Bhowmick (72), India's former footballer breathed his last in a hospital on January 22, after a prolonged illness, hospital sources confirmed. Bhowmick was popularly known as 'Bhombolda', who was a striker and played for East Bengal, represented India in several international tournaments, and coached several clubs. He was hospitalized with diabetic problems and kidney ailments, before he passed away.
