Rising COVID-19 Case Leads China To Re-Imposes Fresh Lockdowns

Amid the rising case of COVID-19 cases, China has started to re-impose the fresh lockdown in the country to avert another outbreak. ''There have been multiple scattered local outbreaks in China,'' said Mi Feng, the National Health Commission's (NHC) spokesman. Reportedly, 11 provinces in China reported more than 100 cases over the last week. It's raised concern in China as the 2022 Winter Olympics is scheduled in February.

India Reports 14,306 New Cases, 443 Deaths In 24 Hours

India reported 14,306 new cases, 443 deaths and 18,762 recoveries in the last 24 hours, with an active caseload of 1,67,694. Reports suggest that the recovery rate is higher than the beginning of the pandemic and is currently at 98.18 percent. Moreover, the daily positivity rate stands at 1.43 percent, which has become lower, says one of the reports issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Department.

Melbourne Govt Aims At 80% Vaccination; Plans To Curb Restriction

The Government of Melbourne has announced that the city might get more ease over the COVID-19 protocols once 80% of its citizens get vaccinated, starting from October 24. "People would be free to travel and masks will no longer be required, only if the state moves towards a vaccinated economy", said an official statement. Surge In Covid-19 Cases In China; Worst Outbreak Since 2019

Currently, China is witnessing a surge in coronavirus cases owing to the transmissible Delta variant. Reportedly, this surge is regarded as the worst since the initial outbreak in Wuhan in December 2019. As many as 200 cases have been recorded after a small outbreak at Nanjing airport on July 20. Travel through flights has been cancelled till August 11. A partial lockdown has been imposed in the country.

Tamil Nadu Govt Extends Covid-19 Lockdown Till August 9

To contain the spread of Covid-19 in the state, Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin has further extended the ongoing lockdown until August 9. However, the inter-state bus transport facility will remain curtailed, excluding traveling to Puducherry. Besides, the headcount in weddings and funerals remain 50 and 20 respectively. Action will be taken against those who break the Covid-19 norms, the CM added.
