Encounter Breaks Out Between Security Forces & Militants: Jammu & Kashmir

In the Shopian district of South Kashmir, a gunfight broke out between security forces and militants. The fight started on December 8 after security forces received information about militants in the district. Three militants are said to be trapped in the area. Furthermore, J&K police Spokesperson tweeted, ''Encounter started at Check Cholan area of #Shopian. Police and security forces are on job. Further details shall follow."

31 Bus Passengers Killed By Militants In Central Mali

In a shocking incident, Militants shot dead at least 31 passengers of a bus in central Mali on December 3. The bus plies between the village of Songho to a market in Bandiagara twice a week reported Reuters. The insurgents are said to be connected with al Qaeda and Islamic State. According to an official, militants also injured several others in the attack.

Local Insurgent Killed In Short Combat With Security Personnel: Kashmir

Local insurgent killed in a short battle with security troops in north Kashmir's Baramulla region on October 28. Militants opened fire on an Army and police area dominance party near Cherdari, on the outskirts of Baramulla town, resulting in a brief gunfight. The deceased was identified as Javaid Ahmed Wani. Following the targeted killings of migrant laborers and minorities, security forces have increased anti-militancy operations.

2 Militants Killed, 3 Jawan Injured In Gunfight At Kashmir's Shopian

In a gunfight between militants and army jawans, two unidentified militants were killed in south Kashmir's Shopian district, said a senior police officer on October 20. Meanwhile, three army soldiers were also got injured who ''have been evacuated to a hospital''. Reportedly, the gunfight occurred between the army and militants when Army and CRPF launched a search operation in the Cheerbag area of Dragad village.

Security Forces Shoot Down Militant In South Kashmir Valley

Anayat Ashraf Dar, a militant of the south Kashmir Valley was shot down in an operation by the Kashmiri Forces on 23rd September. A pistol and some ammunition were recovered from his possession. Dar upon failing to surrender, triggered a shootout. During the encounter, "the newly active terrorist was neutralised,” the police reported. On September 22, Dar had fired upon a civilian Jeewer Hameed Bhat, who was seriously injured.

Two Among Six Palestinian Terrorists Arrested By Police: Israel

The last two of six Palestinian terrorists who tunneled out of a maximum-security Israeli jail almost two weeks ago have been busted by Israeli troops on September 18. As per the officials, two members of the Islamic Jihad militant group were arrested from a residence in Jenin, a Palestinian city in the occupied West Bank. However, all six have either been convicted or are accused of deadly acts against Israelis.

Two ULB Militants Killed In Cross-Firing In Assam: Police General Director

Assam Police General Director, GP Singh confirmed on September 18 that two militants of the ULB (United Liberation of Bodoland) have been killed on September 17 during a fire exchange. As per police reports, the two militants were killed by the Assam Police at their camp in Assam's Kokrajhar district. However, pistols and grenades were also recovered at the camp of the Militants.

Militants Kill Sub-Inspector In Srinagar; Incident Captured In CCTV

Meer Arshad, Sub-Inspector in Srinagar died due to injuries caused by a militant fire in the daylight on September 12. The incident has been captured in the CCTV, wherein a militant opened fire on Meer, a recent recruit in the J&K police from behind at a point-blank range. However, Meer was declared dead after reaching SKIMS. Several mainstream political parties along with Mehbooba Mufti have condemned the tragic incident.

Militants Kill Another BJP Leader In South Kashmir's Kulgam

Javaid Ahmad Dar, a BJP leader and unit in charge was shot and killed by suspected militants in the Brazloo area of South Kashmir's Kulgam district. This is the second incident in just one week. Dar was taken to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries on the same day. BJP has lost 19 party workers since last year in such incidents in Kashmir.

Hindu Temples Under Possible Threat In Several Areas Of J&K

Security agencies suspect an attack on temples and Hindu-majority areas in J&K by Pakistan-based militant groups to create communal riots. The news comes days after 16 suspected militants were arrested with arms and ammunition, three drone drops, and intelligence input of few months. "The only purpose of such attacks appears to be to fan communal passions,” J&K police said. The development comes with the recent Afghanistan crisis.
