Counting Begins For Bochahan Assembly Seat By-Poll In Bihar's Muzaffarpur
Counting for the by-election to the Bochahan Assembly seat in Bihar's Muzaffarpur district, is underway, on April 16. Reportedly, out of 13 candidates contesting in the election, three are women. Around 2.90 lakh voters turned up, reported PTI. Following the death of MLA Musafir Paswan, the by-election to the seat became necessary. The counting reportedly began at 8 am, and the security in the area has been tightened.

NHRC Seeks Reports From Bihar Govt On 'Eye Removal' Of 6 People
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) sent a notice to the Bihar government seeking a detailed report regarding the removal of eyes of six people at a hospital in Muzaffarpur on November 2. Reportedly, the eyes were removed due to infection in the cornea of those people through ''botched-up cataract surgeries''. The NHRC said, ''a doctor can conduct up to 12 surgeries. But in this case, the doctor conducted 65".

Youth Killed, Genitals Mutilated For Having Love Affairs: Bihar
Bihar's Muzzafarpur police have arrested a man named Sushant Pandey, including three of his aids who killed and mutilated the genitals of the 17-year-old Saurabh Kumar on July 23. Reportedly, ''Pandey called the victim Saurabh to his house'' and killed him for having a love affair with his sister. ''Post mortem is being done and further details. Will be revealed after the report come,'' said SP Rajesh Kumar.

Bihar Farmers Destroy Tomatoes, Green Vegetables As Prices Hit New Low
Farmers in Bihar's Muzaffarpur continued their protest against low vegetable prices as they destroyed tomatoes and other green vegetables on May 11. The farmers stated they were unable to sell tomatoes even at Rs 1/kg while the transportation cost alone is Rs 4-5/kg, and were selling green vegetables for below Rs 2/kg. Reportedly, the farmers till now have destroyed crops, worth lakhs of rupees, grown over 17.5 lakh square feet.

Bihar Women Demands Rs 11L Compensation; Gets Impregnated After Tubectomy
Bihar's Phulkumari Devi filled a case in the consumer court seeking Rs 11 lakh compensation as she gets impregnated after undergoing tubectomy. Reportedly, the 30-year-old woman already has four kids and had undergone surgery in July 2019, at a government hospital. "I can't bear the expenses of another child", Phulkumari's husband mentioned. Meanwhile, Dr. Sudhir Kumar who operated the woman claims that such failures are very common.
