NASA To Launch 'Lucy' To Jupiter's Trojan Asteroids

NASA has filled "Lucy" with fuel and is being packed into a capsule for launch on October 16. Lucy will be the first spacecraft of the agency to explore Jupiter's Trojan asteroids. Scientists aim to improve their views on how the planets originated 4.5 billion years ago by examining these asteroids up close. Engineers have run tests on Lucy's mechanical, electrical, and thermal-systems, and practiced launching the spacecraft from mission-… read-more

NASA To Explore Moon's South Pole Through 'VIPER' By 2023

NASA stated on September 20 that it plans to send an ice-seeking rover 'VIPER' to the Nobile Crater in the Moon's south pole in 2023. This robot is to explore water ice beneath the surface that can potentially work as rocket fuel for future trips to Mars and beyond afield. The robot is called Volatiles Investigating Polar Exploration Rover (VIPER). It's about the size of a golf cart.
