Parliament To Resume Functioning At Pre-COVID Timing From March 9

Both the Houses of the Parliament, the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha, will start functioning at pre-COVID timings i.e from 11AM, from March 9. The decision was announced by Vandana Chavan in Rajya Sabha while Speaker Om Birla called it out in the Lok Sabha stating that the decision was taken on the request of several MPs. Prior to the announcement, the RS was functional from 9AM-2PM while the Lok Sabha worked from 4PM-9PM.

ITDC To Serve Parliamentarians Now, Takes Charge From Northern Railways

India Tourism Development Corporation, a state-owned company, has now been assigned to run the Parliament canteen from November 15. ITDC, which also runs 5-star Ashoka Hotels, will replace the Northern Railways that was serving parliamentarians since 1968. Opposition MPs Boycott Last Day of Monsoon Session In Lok Sabha

Opposition MPs boycotted the last day of the Parliament's monsoon session on September 25. They refused to attend the session after Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla asked them to attend the proceedings. The Speaker said that the opposition leaders boycotted the last day of the session due to some "political compulsions". He also stated the average attendance of MPs in the Lok Sabha was over 300 during the monsoon session.
