No Human Deaths From Train Accidents In Past 22 Months: Piyush Goyal

Replying to a question on railway safety in the Rajya Sabha, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal on February 12 stated that no fatalities in train accidents have occurred after March 22, 2019. Besides, he said that the government also keeps a pre and post-monsoon check of the 34,665 railway bridges which are over 100 years old. The union minister also assured the house to use sensors and drones to monitor the keep-up of the archaic bridges.

Railway Minister Confirms SOP For Train Service Between Nepal, Bihar

Addressing the Rajya Sabha, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal informed that the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to operate direct passenger trains between Bihar's Jayanagar and Nepal's Kurtha is all set. Rly Minister Shares Elephants Crossing Railway Track Video, Netizens React

A video posted by Railway Minister Piyush Goyal in which a loco pilot stopped the train for three elephants, including a calf, to cross the track is winning over the internet. The video which was probably shot by train staff is from the railway track of the Sivok-Gulma section in West Bengal. Liked and retweeted by thousands, netizens loved the “kindness and responsibility” as “they not only saved elephants but humanity.”

Union Government Rolls Back Restrictions On Export Of N-95/FFP-2 Masks

To catalyze outbound shipping of N-95 masks, the Central Government on October 6 revoked the curbs over its export. Earlier, the country had restricted international trade of the masks to fulfill domestic demand. Reportedly, in August, a quota was fixed for its export. Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal tweeted, "India is making for the world: N95 and FFP2 masks can now be exported freely to countries across the world."
