India will witness normal weather patterns during the monsoon season this year. The Indian Meteorological Department said, "Normal to below-normal rainfall likely over parts of northwest India, west, central and northeast regions during southwest monsoon." The government's forecast comes a day after Skymet, a private weather agency, predicted below-normal monsoon rain this year due to the end of La Nina conditions.

In wake of the major rainfall reported in Tamil Nadu, authorities in the state’s Ramanathapuram district have announced holidays for all educational institutes. On October 10, Tamil Nadu has been witnessing heavy rains while the meteorological department forecasted for the next few days. The city of Mumbai is experiencing water-logging across several areas due to incessant heavy rainfall, on October 8. The IMD has predicted that Mumbai will receive moderate to heavy rain with a cloudy sky, for the next 24 hours. IMD has also predicted isolated heavy rainfall over Gujarat, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra and Yanam in the upcoming couple of days.
