Jharkhand Edu Minister Jagarnath's Health Shows Improvement After Surgery

After undergoing a lung transplant surgery, Jharkhand Education Minister Jagarnath Mahto's medical condition is now on recovery path. Jagarnath (54) had to undergo the surgery after his lungs were severely damaged due to COVID-19. Mahto was under medical observation since October 1 and was shifted to Chennai on October 19 by air ambulance with ventilator support. BJP Questions Lalu Yadav's Stay In The Bungalow Allotted To RIMS Director

The Jharkhand's BJP President Deepak Prakash raised worries over RJD chief Lalu Yadav using the RIMS Hospital Director’s bungalow, while serving his jail term. Moreover, the new director of RIIMS is staying in the state guest house which costs Rs 800/day, paid by the government. According to the in-charge of Jharkhand prison, Inspector General (IG) follows the court orders and "No orders have been directed for the shifting of Lalu Yadav."

Jharkhand High Court Grants Bail To Maulana After A Year Of Jail

The Jharkhand High Court has granted bail to Maulana Kalimuddin Muzahiri who was arrested under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) over a year ago. The court found no evidence against Maulana that could prove his linkage with Al Qaeda, which was the basis of his arrest. Maulana was also been booked for doing "anti-national works as a jihadi". However, he cannot leave Jamshedpur without permission of the lower court.

Red Flag to 'Chhath Puja' Near Water Bodies: Jharkhand Govt

Jharkhand government issued a notice stating that this year due to the pandemic, "Chhath Puja", will not be allowed near water-bodies. The notice read, "Due to the fixed timing of performing the rituals, it is not possible to ensure social-distancing". People bathing in common-water was also a concern. "Chhath Puja", mainly celebrated in Bihar, Jharkhand, and in areas of UP will be observed on November 20.

Jharkhand: Bars Resume Operations After Securing 50% Waiver In License Fee

Bars in Jharkhand reopened on November 3 after the state government assured to waive the annual license fee by 50%. Even though the bars were allowed to reopen from November 1 itself, they observed a shut down on November 1 and 2 as a part of protest against the high license fee. The Jharkhand government charges Rs 9 Lakh as an annual license fee from the bars.

Police Set Up Juvenile Friendly Police Station in Ranchi

With facilities like attached toilets, beds, and colourful walls painted with cartoons, the Kotwali police station has been turned into a juvenile friendly surrounding. Kotwali Police Station in Ranchi under NGO "Bachpan Bachao Andolan" inaugurated a model of "Baal Mitra" police station. Jharkhand: Villagers Punish Woman On Suspicion of Black Magic

A 55-year-old woman in Jharkhand's Simdega district was allegedly tonsured and harassed by several villagers on charges of practicing black magic. The incident took place on September 19 when the villagers accused the woman of performing witchcraft that resulted in the death of a boy last month. Reportedly, a case has been registered against 49 people, out of which nine have been arrested.

Jharkhand CM Assists Woman Facing Harassment After Testing COVID Positive

Preeti Kumari, a woman from Ranchi, Jharkhand recorded a 15-minute long video to tell people about the mental harassment she and her family is going through for being tested positive for coronavirus. The video reached Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren and he directed the Deputy Commissioner of Ranchi and the Health Minister to look into the matter and help the family. Reportedly, the woman's neighbours have isolated her family.
