EU Issues Fresh Sanctions Against Russia, Bans Gold Originating From Russia
The European Union (EU) has issued a new set of sanctions against Russia amid the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war. With this, Gold originated from Russia is now banned. Purchase, import and transfer of Gold which originated from Russia is banned. It also includes jewellery. "It is up to Russia to stop bombing Ukraine's fields and silos, and stop blocking Black Sea ports," said Josep Borrel, High Representative for Foreign Affairs.

Daria Kasatkina, the top tennis player in Russia, has discussed her sexual orientation and criticized the nation's attitude toward homosexuality. During a talk with Russian blogger Vitya Kravchenko, the 25-year-old, Daria Kasatkina made it known that she is a lesbian and had a partner named Natalia Zabiiako. "Living in peace with yourself is the only thing that matters," she said.

Sri Lanka Willing To Purchase Fuel From Russia Amid Energy Crisis
Amid the ongoing energy crisis in Sri Lanka, the island nation's Power and Energy minister Kanchana Wijesekara said that Lanka is in talks with Russia for the purchase of fuel. "We have made requests to many countries," he said. He also said that India is the only country that is currently providing a credit line to Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, Russia is selling fuel at discounted costs due to western sanctions.

US Sanctions $100 MN To Train Ukrainian Troops On American Jets
The United States of America has extended its military support to Ukraine by sanctioning $100 million in funding to train Ukrainian troops in using US jets. This has come after repeated requests from Ukraine for new fighter jets like F-16. Ukraine is likely to eventually evolve out of Soviet equipments and make a shift to the western military equipments.

Russia Reports First Case Of Monkeypox Virus; Patient Recently Returned From Europe
Russia has officially detected its first of Monkeypox Virus, on July 12. Reportedly, the patient is a young male, who recently returned from Europe. Reportedly, the patient showed mild symptoms, which included a rash, and is now isolated. WHO in the last week of June, stated that Monkeypox outbreak is not a global health concern currently, however, to control further spread of the virus "intense response efforts" must be taken.

HTC unveiled the HTC A101, an Android tablet. It has a 10-inch IPS LCD screen and a 7,000 mAh battery. The smartphone is powered by Unisoc's T618 SoC, which is combined with 8GB RAM and 128GB of additional storage via microSD. A 3.5mm headphone jack is also included with the tablet. In Russia, HTC sells this tablet for RUB 19,890 (USD 361) and offers it in grey and silver colors.

Russia Becomes Largest Supplier Of Crude Oil To China Surpassing Saudi Arabia
China has seemingly started to make use of Russia's discounted crude oil prices, as Russia became China's largest supplier of oil, overtaking Saudi Arabia. Amid western sanctions against the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Russia discounted the prices of its crude oil. As per data, China has imported 8.42 million metric tons of crude oil in May, which is 55% more than the previous year.

Lithuania Bans Transit Of Russian Goods; Putin Warns Of Serious Consequences
Russian president Vladimir Putin has issued a chilling warning to Lithuania. The warning came after Lithuania banned the transit of Russian goods to Kaliningrad, sanctioned by the European Union. Russia stated that serious measures will be taken to protect the national interest. This is the first time Russia has issued a direct warning to a NATO member, since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
