Kerala's Ex-Congress leader PC Chacko on March 16 formally joined Sharad Pawar's Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), as the state awaits poll on April 6. On decamping to NCP, Chacko stressed the need for unity among the oppositions. "A united opposition should emerge as an alternative to BJP", stated Chacko. The former Thrissur MP had resigned from Congress on March 10, over alleged groupism and factional selection of electoral candidates.

For unknown reasons, actor Sonu Sood met NCP chief Sharad Pawar at his residence on January 13. Sharad Pawar has requested the onion traders of Nashik to reopen auctioning of onions in APMCs. He attributed the rise in its prices to Centre's decisions to ban onion export and limiting the stocking up of onions by traders. He further said that he will speak with the Centre regarding the decisions and added that a comprehensive policy was the need. He also slammed the Centre for dropping onion from essential commodities list. 

NCP chief Sharad Pawar and Home Minister Anil Deshmukh allegedly received threat calls from unidentified callers, and Mumbai Police has started investigating the matter.
