SC Dismisses Plea Of Tamil Nadu Minister, His Wife Against Madras HC
The Supreme Court on August 7, dismissed two petitions of Tamil Nadu minister V Senthil Balaji and his wife against the Madras High Court order upholding the legality of his arrest in the money laundering case. The court also allowed Enforcement Directorate (ED) to take him into custody for five days till August 12. Two separate petitions were filed by the minister and his wife S Megala in the SC.

Rahul Gandhi To Run 2024 Elections, Lok Sabha Revokes Disqualification Orders
Rahul Gandhi is reinstated as the Member of Parliament (MP) of Wayanad, Karnataka. The Supreme Court (SC) recently stayed the conviction orders of the Gujarat High Court (HC) against Rahul Gandhi, in the 2019 Modi Surname Defamation Case. The stay on Gandhi’s conviction made him eligible to return to the Lok Sabha, and had to wait for a formal order from the secretariat to re-enter the Lok Sabha.

ASI Team's Survey Of Gyanvapi Mosque Enters Day 2: Varanasi
The 41-member ASI team started their survey at the Gyanvapi mosque for a second day. The team entered the premises and started their search to find the truth behind the claims of the Hindu groups, saying the mosque is built on Hindu temple land and there's findings of ancients, shivling. Notably, the survey started after the Supreme Court allowed the survey, and upheld the Allahabad High Court's decision.

SC Allows Survey Of Gyanvapi Mosque By ASI Team: Varanasi
After the Allahabad High Court (HC,) the Supreme Court also announced the continuation of the Gyanvapi Mosque survey in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. The verdict of the Top Court bench came as a huge win for the Hindu side in the filed plea. Notably, the Gyanvapi Mosque trust board moved the Apex Court, demanding stay on the survey by the ASI team, to find the truth behind claims of Hindu ancients.

AP Govt Likely To Move SC Against AP HC Verdict For R5 Zone Construction
Opposing the judgement of the Andhra Pradesh High Court regarding the construction of R5 Zone, the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Government decided to move the Supreme Court. Notably, the AP High Court on Thursday issued an interim order staying the construction of houses in the Amaravati R-5 zone, which is under the site of house pattas, granted to poor people in Andhra Pradesh.

SC Refuses To Entertain Plea In Large Scale Kidney Transplant Issue
The Supreme Court on July 28, refused to entertain a petition filed in 2019 by a two-year-old seeking a CBI or SIT investigation into complaints of "large-scale" and "well-organised" kidney transplant scam involving corporate hospitals in several states, saying courts cannot be "panacea" for all things wrong. A bench of Justices S K Kaul and Sudhanshu Dhulia said the court cannot be like an all-encompassing system trying to do everything.

Gyanvapi Mosque Survey On Hold, SC Puts Stay Order
In a boost to Muslims, the Supreme Court has put a stay order on the survey of the ASI at the Gyanvapi Mosque, Uttar Pradesh. On July 24, the Top Court, heard the petition filed by the Gyanvapi Management Board and adjourned the matter. Meanwhile, unlike the Varanasi High Court, the Apex Court stayed the survey till July 26, 5:00 P.M.
