Japan To Reopen Visa-Free Travel, Ending Some Of World’s Strictest COVID-19 Border Controls
Japan has announced to reopen visa-free travel for tourists in to the country, as COVID-19 recedes in the country. This marks some of world’s toughest border control being lifted. Visitors will now be welcomed to Japan after two years of pandemic isolation. With this, the tourism industry is expected to boom in the coming months. Just over half a million visited Japan in 2022, compared to 31.8 million in 2019.

Japan Asks Resident To Take Shelter As North Korean Missile Flies Over Tokyo
In wake of the unidentified ballistic missile fired by North Korea, Japan has asked its residents to take shelter. This has come after the missile flew over Tokyo. Japanese government asked the residents of northernmost main island of Hokkaido and the country’s northeastern prefecture of Aomori to stay inside the buildings. Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno said that the missile flew over Tokyo and fell in the Pacific Ocean.

PM Modi Attends State Funeral Of Former Japanese PM Shinzo Abe
PM Modi attended the state funeral of former Japanese PM Shinzo Abe, who was assassinated. Besides, 50 international leaders also attended the ceremony at Nippon Budokan Hall in Tokyo. Over 700 foreign guests were flown in to attend the ceremony. Notably, Shinzo Abe held the office of Prime Minister twice, from 2006-07 and 2012-20. He was then succeeded by Yoshihide Suga, and now by Fumio Kishida.

PM Modi Meets Japanese Counterpart Fumio Kishida In Japan
PM Narendra Modi, who is on a tour to Tokyo, Japan, met his Japanese counterpart Fumio Kishida on September 27. The two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening of India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership and held bilateral talks. Notably, Modi is in Japan to attend the state funeral of former Japanese PM Shinzo Abe. The meeting between Kishida and PM Modi was held ahead of the ceremony.

Typhoon Nanmadol: Parts Of Japan Flooded, 60 Injured, Power Cut
The situation in Japan due to Typhoon Nanmadol continues to stay grim as of September 19. A typhoon-induced landfall in the Kyushu region has caused floods with raging water flow. Reportedly, the typhoon was packed with sustained winds of 108 kmph and gusts up to 162 kmph. According to local media reports, over 60 persons have been injured, and tens of thousands of people spent their nights at public places.

Chirag Shetty and Satwiksai Raj Rankireddy played on August 24 in the Round 32 clash of the BWF World Championships 2022 Match and entered the quarter-finals. The duo, who secured many medals for India had a scoreline of 21-12, 21-10, winning against the duo of Jeppe and Lasse in the event.

PM Modi Likely To Attend Late Japanese Leader Shinzo Abe’s State Funeral

Honda Records 30% Lower Profits Due To Silicon Chip Shortage
Honda Motor Company, on November 5, recorded its lower profit margin due to the "silicon chip shortage" globally. Reportedly, the Japanese automaker had to lower its production of vehicles causing loss in the overall profit upto 30%. Moreover, the company said that the profit fell by almost a third, to 198.9 billion Yen for three months. "The result was higher than an average forecast of 183.5 billion," said the company.
